Minus One Update

Just when things were starting to look better for this sweet little puppy love of mine, we are now dealing with a another set back.

His hip, where his leg was amputated, is healing perfectly! However, his other back foot had to have a toe removed and that foot is not healing as we had hoped. The incision itself is great but now the Dr feels that he might have developed staph, and not just any staph, a strain that is flesh eating. :(

Basically, we are on an all new antibiotic regimen to see if we can save this foot. If not, then I will have a double amputee that will be forced to use a puppy dog wheelchair.

We are hopeful and praying for the best! And receiving sweet encouragement from our little doggy friends is always a mood booster! 

BRRR!!!

Second day back to work and I am sick. Blah!

Luckily I have the option of working from home today, so it looks to be a long day of emails, emails and more emails for this girl. And maybe a quick blog session...or two. :)

With the weather being so absolutely, ridiculously cold I really won't complain too much about being inside. When I woke up this morning it was 7 degrees! 7 DEGREES! It is Arkansas! We have 110 degree summer days. We should NOT be having 7 degree winter days! 

One good thing about the freezing temps is my sweet old man pup, Browning, has become an inside dog. He is probably the best inside dog I have ever had (ya know, in the two days he has been inside) so I'm kind of sad that I have made him stay outside all of this time! Browning was a rescue and was already an old man when I got him, but he had to have been an inside dog at some point! As you can tell he is right at home curled up on the couch wrapped up in a blanket!

 And in Magnus news, he went to the vet yesterday for his second round of puppy shots. His heart sounded perfect, his little manly parts are where they are supposed to be (I had no idea they checked for this!), and he now weighs in at 22.9 lbs at approximately 9 weeks old! That is a 2.7 lb weight gain in one week!

Ruger, My Lovie

So, I have another sad post. :( My sweet boy Ruger passed away today. Ruger was one of my two chocolate labs and they were my babies (even though they are old). When I bought my own home and moved out of my parents house this past October, I needed something more to make my house a home. To accomplish that I went to the local animal shelter and adopted the two cutest old labs I'd ever seen! I named them Browning and Ruger and they became my guard dogs, best friends and my entertainment. Ruger has slowly gotten worse over the last few months (He had really bad arthritis when I got him so he took pain and joint medication daily) and the last couple of weeks have been pure torture watching him fight so hard. Today he couldn't take anymore and he left me and Browning to try to figure out where to go from here. Dramatic, I know, but he has been a huge part of my life and my new home and things will definitely not be the same without him. So, this post is for you, Ruger. You were such a sweet old man and I will forever be grateful for the way you made my house a home. Love you, Oldie!
